Welcome to Norråker

Norråker is a small village at the end of Bävervägen (Beaverroad). The village lies in the northern - most part of Jämtland but belongs to Ångermanland, Sweden.
About 200 people live in Norråker. The village has a vaiety of stores and a gas station with an assortment of food items.
The "Idea cabin" (Idéstugan) has information for tourists, homemade crafts for sale, etc.

The camp lies to Tåsjö (Toelake). Besides the main house "Beavery Hills" There is a log cabin buildt according to the old style with the fireplace in the middle of the cabin.
On the campground there is also a dancefloor and stage area for our villages and guests enjoyment. There is a covered picnic area with grill close to the lake.

The mainhouse has a modern kitchen complete with all the amenities and TV. 2 bathrooms complete with showers and WC. The main house is also equipped for handicapped.

Room with 5 beds are avaible in the main house. The little cottage has 4 beds and a miniature kitchen and is situated just close to the main house. The log cabin has 4 beds.
There are also 8 RV parking spaces with electial outlets.

Aktivities

Fishing: The lake (Tåsjön), full of salmon and trout, is next to the campgrounds.
Some 20 lakes within the area provide many fisching oppertunities but you will, of course, need a license.		 fiskare.gif (1671 bytes)
Hunting: Beaver, small wild animals and birds
Hiking: Midsommarfjället, summer and winter trails with a cabin at the top.
Miles of marked snowmobile and hiking trails to good fishing waters or hike to one of our cabins or shelters for a picnic.		 vandrare.gif (1694 bytes)
Exercise: 2,5 km lighted trails and 5 km without.
Tenniscourts 50 meters from the camgrounds as well.
Downhill and cross country skiing at Tåsjö mountain about 30 km away.
Swimming: 50 meters from the campgrounds as well.
Things to see: Lapplia Bygdemuseum in Skansnäset on the other side of the lake.

Storfallet

(The Bigwaterfall)

A beautiful restingplace with a grandiose nature scenary situated near a waterfall by Saxälven (the name of the river).
There are (or you will find) campingtables and barbecues.

A simple roaddescription:
If you leave from the Idéstugan (giftshop) drive towards Borgafjäll 2,8 km. Soon after the small village Saxåmon turn left and drive about 1 km. Then turn right just after a small bridge and follow the road along Saxälven for about 4,6 km.

The Storfallet -signpost is standing by the road. There you stop your car and walk over several small bridges up to the campsite.

Please be careful with fires and bring all your garbage back home.

There is an outdoor toilet by the road.

A reminder: the water in the falls is very deep and there is no guardrail so be careful!.

Midsummermountain

Sights along the walking-path to Midsommarfjället

On your way up to the top of "midsummermounttain" you pars meres, cross swamps,
walk uphill through old spruceforests and birchforests until you finally reach the top of the mountain (742 m above the sea).

The winterpath which is crossmarked coinside with the summerpath for 300 m. You find a signpost where they separate.

The first were you pass is "Granbacktjärn" (tjärn=mere).

The forset you walk through is about 300 years old and most commen trees are spruces but yuo also find some birches and sallows.

The spruces are often over overgrown with different kinds of lichens.

The path is about 4 000 m long (2,5 eng. miles). Halfway up there is a small compsite with tables and seats.

Just before the top (150/200 yards) you'll find a cabin with a stove, a campsite and also an outdoor toilet.
An exellent spring with fresh water is very close to the cabin.

In clear weather the veiw from the top is marvellows.
You can see many different mountaintops.
